A few days ago, Salman Khan’s team had reportedly sent a legal notice to the makers of Kala Hiran. Now, the film’s producer Amit Jani has responded to the notice.
According to an India Today report, Amit Jani was quoted saying, “The notice was premature, and the legal action unnecessary. The film is not a biopic on Salman Khan. Apart from a poster, nothing about the film has been revealed so far.”
Giving more details about the film, he added, “This is not a Salman Khan biopic. The film presents what is already available in the public domain. It is based on a larger story involving the Bishnoi community, their struggle, and their deep connection with wildlife. We have tried to bring that story to the screen. We have not shown Salman Khan in a negative light, nor have I glorified Lawrence Bishnoi.”
The filmmakers recently unveiled the first-look poster of the feature, which depicted its lead character stationed in a forest terrain holding a sniper rifle. The makers have described it as a suspense-action drama inspired by real-life legal battles and events.
In a separate social media video statement post, Jani claimed that Salman Khan has started threatening people related to the Kala Hiran. He said, "Are you bigger than constitution? Can you take away others' freedom? We respect the court, and we will answer the legal notice when we are called by the court."
Salman’s team reportedly sent the notice to film’s casting director Akshay Pandey on April 24 after it was found that Akshay was approaching actors and circulating film-related material, claiming it was inspired by the legal battles of Salman Khan around the Blackbuck hunting case. The notice demands the immediate retraction and removal of all posters, teasers, and promotional materials associated with the project and immediate halt to film’s release, warning of strict legal action and escalating litigation if the stipulated demands are not met.
Salman’s team also alleged the Kala Hiran makers of attempting to commercially benefit from the actor’s fame and goodwill, besides pointing that making a film inspired by a case that is still pending in High Court could potentially interfere with administration of justice and damage the actor’s reputation.
Kala Hiran is directed by Bharat S Shrinate and produced by Amit under Firefox Media Private Limited. The first teaser of the film is currently scheduled for release on June 20.
