Yash, who became a pan-India phenomenon after headline the KGF franchise movies (2019, 2022) is playing the role of Ravana in the much-anticipated mythological drama Ramayana, which is set to release on Diwali this year. The film stars Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi in the lead, who are playing Lord Ram and Sita, respectively. During a promotional interaction at San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, Ranbir praised Yash, speaking about why he was the perfect choice for Ravana’s role.
The Animal actor said about the KGF actor, “He's played it with so much of swag, with so much of aura, with so much of honesty, that he's really made Ravan come alive. I've been a big fan of his work, and I truly believe that we needed somebody with his aura, with his stardom, with his outlook, to play this role."
While revealing that they haven’t shot together for any scene in the film so far, Ranbir added, “Ram and Ravan really meet at the end of the film. Maybe a meeting in the middle, but we haven't shot that yet, so we haven't had the opportunity to work together," Kapoor added.
Earlier on Friday, Ramayana producer Namit Malhotra announced that they have tied up with Sony Pictures for international distribution plan of their film, while also sharing that the trailer release remains indefinitely postponed.
Ramayana boasts a steller ensemble cast, with actors like Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, Rakul Preet Singh, Ravie Dubey, Arun Govil, and Vivek Oberoi among others on board.
