With just days left for the promotional campaign to begin, the makers of Ramayana have crossed another milestone ahead of the film's much-awaited trailer launch.

The ambitious mythological epic, directed by Nitesh Tiwari, has remained in the spotlight since its announcement, with every update around the project generating considerable interest. After unveiling a first glimpse earlier this year, the team is now preparing to release the full trailer on July 24.

Ahead of the launch, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has certified the trailer with a 'U' (Universal) rating, allowing it to be viewed by audiences of all ages. The certification, issued on July 15, also reveals that the makers have submitted two separate edits, a 4-minute-15-second version and a shorter 4-minute cut, likely intended for theatrical exhibition.

The film's first glimpse, released a few months ago, introduced Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram and offered audiences a preview of its scale. While many praised the visual ambition, others questioned whether the computer-generated imagery looked polished enough.

Addressing those reactions in a recent conversation, actor-producer Yash said the visuals seen so far do not represent the finished product. He explained that the VFX team at DNEG, led by producer and visual effects expert Namit Malhotra, is continuing to refine every frame. The actor also disclosed that he has already watched a near-complete version of the film. However, he stressed that the team has no intention of settling until the last minute, saying they will continue improving the film wherever possible before release.

Backed by a reported budget of Rs 4,000 crore, Ramayana stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana. The cast also includes Sunny Deol as Hanuman, Ravie Dubey as Lakshman; along with Rakul Preet Singh, Kunal Kapoor, Lara Dutta, Arun Govil, Sheeba Chaddha and Adinath Kothare in supporting roles.

Planned as a two-part saga, Ramayana: Part 1 is scheduled to release during Diwali 2026, while Part 2 will arrive in theatres on Diwali 2027.
