After Dhamaal 4 surprised everyone by surpassing all trade expectations and collecting Rs 65 crores on first weekend, all eyes were on the Mondat test. The Ajay Devgn led comedy, however, failed to live upto the expectations set for itself.
According to Sacnilk, The film garnered Rs 8.75 crore (nett) on day 4, registering a drop of nearly 70 percent from its Sunday collections of Rs 28.75 crores nett. Although the drop intensity can also be attributed to its mammoth jump over the weekend. Yet, going by the trend, the film was expected to touch 10 crore mark on Monday. By failing to do that, Dhamaal 4 has failed to lived upto a significant set of expectations.
What works in Dhamaal 4‘s favour is the absence of any major Hindi releases the coming week, although the film will be severely impacted by the arrival of The Odyssey, the much-awaited Christopher Nolan directorial that releases worldwide on July 17.
Meanwhile, on Monday, Dhamaal 4 also crossed the 100-crore figure worldwide, with its overseas collections contributing nearly 14 percent of its overall box office figures. Going by the current trend, the film is likely to surpass Welcome To The Jungle, another major franchise comedy which released recently.
Directed by Indra Kumar, the fourth installment of the Dhamaal franchise features known names like Javed Jaffrey, Upendra Limaye, Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Ravi Kishan, Sanjay Mishra, Anjali Anand, Sanjeeda Shaikh and Esha Gupta in the lead cast.
In our review for the film, we noted, “With a script as thin as a map, Dhamaal 4 is a senseless, mind-numbing mess. Every scene ends up with people falling or things falling on them. It’s so slapstick that in spirit of the wordplay comedy this genre of films is known for, I expected people to get slapped with a stick.”
