There has been a lot of chatter about Farah Khan planning to return to film direction. Farah’s last directorial, the Shah Rukh Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer Happy New Year, released more than 11 years ago. During a recent interview, Farah spoke about her plans to return to direction, also admitting that she would plan it only with Shah Rukh Khan if the project materialises.

While interacting with Nakuul Mehta on her YouTube channel, Farah Khan mentioned the social media hashtag ‘Farah Wapas Aao,’ where film-goers have been pleading for the Om Shanti Om filmmaker to return to film direction. Addressing the subject, Farah revealed that she will likely start working on her next film in late 2026, after her kids start college. “I think I will start work on the film by end of this year,” she added.

Farah also stated that if she will rather wait to make the film with Shah Rukh Khan instead of anyone, adding, “If I do it, I will do with Shah Rukh. Otherwise, I will keep doing YouTube.” She added on a light-hearted note that she will not leave YouTube because ‘she needs to pay her kids’ fees.’

It is to be noted that Om Shanti Om received a great reaction upon it's recent re-release in November, as part of the Shah Rukh Khan film festival.

Additionally, Farah also spoke about a renewed fan following for her 2010 film Tees Maar Khan, which had failed commercially upon its theatrical release. However, in the past 15 years, the film has gained a cult following for its wacky humour. Farah also acknowledged the contribution of Akshaye Khanna’s renewed popularity after Dhurandhar that has added to the love for Tees Maar Khan.

As a choreographer, Farah has been intermittently active in the industry. She recently choreographed the ‘Chaanta Tera’ song from Vir Das starrer Happy Patel.
