TVF is coming up with their new series Space Gen: Chandrayaan, which stars Nakuul Mehta and Shriya Saran in lead roles. The series is set to premiere on JioHotstar on January 23. The makers released the official trailer of their series on Tuesday.
Based on true events, Space Gen: Chandrayaan captures the trials and tribulations of a team of scientists at ISRO as they pick themselves up after the failure of Chandrayaan-2 and gear up for a new mission in Chandrayaan-3, under the guidance of the newly-appointed ISRO chief who decides to trust the Chandrayaan 2 team against all naysayers, resuming their journey all over again to make the historic first landing on the lunar South Pole. At the heart of it, the series promises to be a rousing tale of redemption, resilience and a scientific mission that united a nation of 1.4 billion people.
Nakuul Mehta plays Arjun, one of the lead roles, in the five-episode series. Talking about the opportunity, Nakuul said, “Space Gen: Chandrayaan changed the way I look at success and failure. This story isn’t about the moment the signal drops, it’s about what happens the morning after, when you still have to show up, take responsibility, and start again.”
SpaceGen: Chandrayaan also features Shriya Saran in a major role. Shriya said about her role, “This role required a different kind of strength—quiet, composed, and deeply internal. Portraying someone at the heart of such a high-stakes mission made me reflect on the emotional cost of ambition and the sacrifices that often go unseen.” Additionally, Danish Sait, Gopal Datt, and Prakash Belawadi will be seen in prominent roles.
Directed by Anant Singh, and produced by Arunabh Kumar, the show promises to be a restrained, character-driven drama that shifts the lens from spectacle to the people behind the mission, their relentless passion, personal sacrifices, and unwavering belief in starting again. Arunabh Kumar, who is also the creator and showrunner for the series, said, “Space Gen: Chandrayaan is our tribute to the ordinary individuals who achieved the extraordinary by refusing to give up and helped India get a seat at the Space table.”
