Actor Emraan Hashmi, who will next be seen in the Netflix series Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web, recently weighed in on the success of Dhurandhar, stating that there is a “crap mentality” in the film industry and that people like to “run-down films.”

In an interview with India Today, when asked whether a film's success can sometimes pinch, as one also aspires to have that kind of box office with every film, Emraan replied, “Whenever a film does a certain amount of business, firstly, you're happy. [However,] There is a crap mentality in our industry. People like [to] run-down films. But I'm of the opinion that if something does well, you should celebrate that. Because that really... the more films do well, it gets for the industry, and the cash flow comes in. It helps everyone. So, that crap mentality shouldn't be there."

Emraan also praised Dhurandhar, saying the marketing and the word of mouth helped its run in theatres. He also stated that although he hasn’t watched the film, he was amused at how the audience chose to go in for a relatively longer film.

"But it's great for the makers. I think it's a great film. The marketing of the film, the way it's... I've not seen the film, but it's audacious when you have two parts like that. And a film that is almost three and a half hours but it's doing that kind of business. I was telling someone right now that the cinema experience would be four hours, but people are going and seeing it at 12 o'clock shows, even early in the morning. And that's the power of cinema, and word of mouth. It's caught on like wildfire," he added.

Emraan also shared an update on Awarapan 2. "So, almost 50 per cent of the shoot has been done. We have a leg remaining now, which we'll finish [soon]. And we'll release it in the next couple of months after that," he said.

Emraan’s next Taskaree: The Smugglers' Web also stars Zoya Afroz, Sharad Kelkar, Nandish Sandhu and Amruta Khanvilkar, among others. It will drop on Netflix on January 14.
