Amidst the Dhurandhar wave, Sriram Raghavan’s patriotic-drama Ikkis has managed to rake in about Rs 24 crore in its first week at the box office. The Agastya Nanda-starrer opened with Rs 7 crore last Thursday with collections dropping through the week. As per early estimates by Sacnilk.com, the film made just Rs 1.15 crore this Wednesday. Its weekly collection stands at Rs 24.25 crore.

When it comes to theatre occupancy, on Wednesday, Ikkis had the most takers in Chennai with 12.75 per cent, followed by Mumbai at 10.25 per cent. National Capital Region (NCR) recorded a theatrical occupancy of 8.50 per cent. Evening shows had the highest occupancy at 9.90 per cent, followed by night shows at 9.83 per cent, afternoon shows at 8.53 per cent and morning shows at 4.29 per cent.

Ikkis is facing tough competition from Aditya Dhar’s Dhurandhar, which, even on the 34th day of its release made Rs 4.25 crore. The film also features the late Dharmendra, Jaideep Ahlawat, Sikandar Kher, Vivaan Shah and Simar Bhatia.

Although Ikkis received mostly favourable reviews from critics, it couldn’t be translated in audience footfall. CE’s review of the film read: “In a post-Dhurandhar India, where chest-thumping nationalism, ‘ghar mein ghus ke maarna’ (intruding and killing) and baying for Pakistan’s blood is one extreme, Sriram Raghavan’s Ikkis presents another, of Indians and Pakistanis being loving, lost brothers stuck in ‘siasi khel’ (political games).”
