Actor Jackie Shroff recently urged youngsters in India to learn how to serve others and about the history of India. Speaking to ANI about the younger generation's responsibilities, the actor said that they have to "serve their parents, nature, earth, and nation." As a slogan, he said, "Madad karo, aagey bado" (Help and make progress). His comments came after attending an event celebrating 100 years of RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh).

The actor also responded to reporters who asked him whether Veer Savarkar is deserving of the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour. In response, he said that it is up to the powers that be to decide on it. When reporters further asked him about it again, the actor kept it vague by saying, "I believe those who deserve it should receive it." His statement come amid RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's comments about the idea of Veer Savarkar being conferred with India's highest civilian honour.

There has been much discussion about whether Savarkar should be presented with the Bharat Ratna posthumously after Mohan supported the idea. Addressing the 'delay' in presenting Savarkar with the award, Mohan stated that India's prestige would go up if the late politician is posthumously conferred with the award. Mohan's comment came at the RSS centenary celebrations held in Mumbai, with many Bollywood personalities among the attendees.

Besides Jackie Shroff, the event also saw the presence of actors Ranbir Kapoor, Salman Khan, Akshay Kumar, Vicky Kaushal, Ananya Panday, Ravi Dubey, Raveena Tandon, and Shilpa Shetty. It also featured directors such as Mohit Suri, Karan Johar, Subhash Ghai, Om Raut, and Nitesh Tiwari.
