Actor Adarsh Gourav, who will next be seen in the creature-feature Tu Yaa Main, has also lent his voice for a song in the film, a rap track called Jee Liye. The song, co-composed and produced by Aditya Narain and written by Chakori Dwivedi, marks Adarsh’s solo playback singing debut for a feature film.
Speaking about his relationship with music and what this debut means to him, Adarsh shared, “Music has always been a very personal space for me. I don’t see it as something separate from acting in fact, I feel it’s deeply connected to how I understand emotion, rhythm, and character. When Tu Yaa Main came to me, the idea of the character expressing himself through a rap track felt incredibly honest and instinctive. It wasn’t about becoming a singer for the sake of it; it was about letting the character speak in the language that felt most authentic to his world."
He added, "Rap, especially, allows you to articulate raw thoughts, contradictions, anger, vulnerability, and truth all at once. Recording this track was as emotionally demanding as shooting a scene - it required me to be completely present, stripped of artifice. I wanted the voice to sound lived-in, imperfect, and real, because that’s how the character is.”
In Tu Yaa Main, Adarsh is playing Maruti Kadam aka Aala Flowpara, a gully rapper from Mumbai’s Nalasopara. The film, directed by Bejoy Nambiar, also stars Shanaya Kapoor. It is slated to release on February 13.
