

Director PS Mithran is gearing up for the release of his ambitious sequel to Sardar, starring Karthi in the lead role. As part of promotions for Sardar 2, the filmmaker also addressed recent speculation about his involvement in a Hindi film starring Dhanush and Kareena Kapoor. Recently, we reported about the potential development of the film, involving producer Sanjay Leela Bhansali as well.
Speaking to Cinema Vikatan, PS Mithran was asked about the rumour; in response, he said that there are discussions going on about the film and that he hopes for a positive outcome. When probed further about it, he reiterated, "Good things will happen."
Coming back to Sardar 2, the film is billed as a bigger and deeper sequel to the 2022 film. The recently released teaser promises more action and much drama. Besides Karthi, the film also brings back Rajisha Vijayan from the first part.
The cast includes SJ Suryah, Malavika Mohanan, Ashika Ranganath, and Yogi Babu, among others.
Sardar 2 is produced by S Lakshman Kumar and Ishan Saksena under the banners of Prince Pictures and Ivy Entertainment, and it has A Venkatesh serving as a co-producer. The makers have shot the film in multiple places, including foreign locations. Adding to the excitement around its release is the prospective face-off between Karthi and SJ Suryah's characters, as the teaser recently hints at.
Sardar 2's script is written by Nambi, with additional screenplay by Rathna Kumar, Aashameera Aiyappan, and Vignesh Muniyandi, based on Mithran's story. On the technical front, the film has composer Sam CS, cinematographer George C Williams, editor Vijay Velukutty, production designer Rajeevan Nambiar, and stunt choreographers Dhilip Subbarayan and Chethan D'souza. The Sardar sequel is set for a September 10 release in theatres.
