A day after the Bombay High Court restrained filmmaker Santosh Kumar from repeating his allegation that Aditya Dhar stole the script of Dhurandhar from him, the blockbuster seems to have fallen into another legal trouble. As per a report in Bar and Bench, production company Trimurti Films has filed a suit against Dhar’s company B62 Studios, alleging unauthorised use of the song 'Rang De Lal (Oye Oye)' in Dhurandhar: The Revenge.

The dispute centres on the rights to the song, originally co-composed as ‘Tirchi Topiwale (Oye Oye)’ for the film Tridev (1989) composed by Kalyan Ji and Anand Ji, with lyrics by Anand Bakshi. It has been sung by Amit Kumar and Sapna Mukherjee.

Trimurti Films have claimed that the song, or a version substantially similar to it, has been used in Aditya’s film without obtaining the requisite licences or permissions.

As per the report, Trimurti has asserted ownership and/or control over the relevant rights in the musical work and sound recording. It has alleged that the use amounts to copyright infringement, including unauthorised reproduction and communication of the work to the public.

The suit seeks injunctive relief restraining further use of the song, along with damages and other consequential reliefs. Trimurti has also raised concerns over potential commercial exploitation of the track through theatrical release, streaming platforms and promotional material.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge features modern rendition of many retro songs like Bombay Rockers’ ‘Aari Aari’ and ‘Hum Pyaar Karne Wale’ from the 1990 film Dil.
