After recently winning his first National Award, actor Vikrant Massey is set to put another feather in his cap. He recently stated that he will be part of Karan Johar’s Dostana 2, a film that was initially supposed to star Kartik Aaryan and was later reported to be shelved after a fallout between Karan and Kartik.
As per previous reports, the film was also supposed to star Lakshya and Janhvi Kapoor.
In an interview with Times Now, Vikrant said, “I think this news is already out. I don’t know why I’m not talking. I’m doing Dostana 2. I’m doing my first Dharma movie.”
Vikrant said that the audience will see a different version of him in the film. “There you will see me wearing good designer clothes. Karan (Johar) sir will make sure that I have wear good clothes and I wear those fancy sunglasses. Shooting somewhere in Europe,” he said. He, however, refused to reveal the name of the female lead in the film. He said, “I think wo main nahi bolunga. Wo Karan sir hi bolenge toh behtar hai. Uski bhi toh badi announcement hai (I won’t reveal that, Karan sir will say as it is a big announcement).” Confirming Lakshya’s casting, he said, “Lakshya is a part of the movie. But let the girl be a surprise,” he said.
It was reported earlier that Kartik walked out of the film due to “creative differences” after which the official Instagram handle of Dharma Productions had declared that they will “recast Dostana 2.”
Kartik, however, is going to be seen in another Dharma Production, Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri, alongside Ananya Panday.
In an earlier interview with The Lallantop, Janhvi had revealed that she shot for 30–35 days of the film with Kartik, but the film was shelved later. She said, “I don’t know really. We had even shot for that film for about 30 to 35 days. The shoot was going very well, according to me. I don’t know why the film was shelved honestly. Of course, I tried asking also, but I guess (it was because) we began shooting for that film long before Covid. And then Covid happened and essentially there was a one-and-a-half years delay. Then people felt that to restart the film… I don’t know.”
