Vikrant Massey received the Best Actor honour at the 71st National Film Awards from President Droupadi Murmu in a ceremony held in New Delhi on Tuesday evening. He received the award for his performance in the film, 12th Fail and shared it with Shah Rukh Khan, who won it for Jawan. Vikrant took to social media on Wednesday and thanked his fans for support.
Vikrant shared a photo with his wife along with the award and wrote, “I’ve been thinking since yesterday as to how should I thank you all? And I’m still unable to. So hopefully a simple thank you from the bottom heart would suffice. I’m grateful beyond words for your continued support in my journey. Thank you, thank you, thank you each one of you. This dreamlike life is only because of you.”
The winners for National Film Awards were announced in August earlier this year. Speaking about winning the award for 12th Fail, Vikrant had earlier said, “Today, if I may say so, a 20-year-old boy’s dream has come true. I am eternally grateful to the audiences for honouring my performances and for recommending this film with such love. It is a privilege to be sharing my first National Award with an icon like Shah Rukh Khan.”
12th Fail also received the award for Best Film. It was directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra and also starred Medha Shankr in the lead.
Rani Mukerji won the award for Best Actress for her performance in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway, a film directed by Ashima Chibber which was released in March 2023. Speaking about it, Rani said, “I am truly overwhelmed to receive my first National Award in my 30-year journey as an actor. This honour means the world to me, and I want to dedicate it to my late father, who always dreamt of this moment for me. I miss him deeply today, and I know it's his blessing and my mother's constant strength and inspiration that guided me through the role of Mrs Chatterjee.”
Meanwhile, Vikrant was last seen in the romantic-drama, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan, which also starred Shanaya Panday in the lead.
