Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor starrer rom-com Param Sundari concluded its open weekend at the box office with a total haul of Rs 26.75 crore. The Tushar Jalota directorial’s collections opened with Rs 7.25 crore on Friday, which marginally increased to Rs 9.25 crore on Saturday and Rs 10.45 crore on Sunday, as per Sacnilk.com.

When it comes to theatre occupancy, Chennai was leading with 40.75 per cent, followed by Bengaluru at 39.25 per cent and Hyderabad at 26.75 per cent. Mumbai and National Capital Region (NCR) had 19.5 per cent and 20 per cent occupancy on Sunday. Compared to Saturday, this time not night but evening shows had the most occupancy at 29.71 per cent, followed by afternoon shows (24.17 per cent), night shows (18.39 per cent) and morning shows (10.56 per cent).

The film also features Sanjay Kapoor, Renji Panicker, Manjot Singh and has a special appearance by Abhishek Banerjee.

Param Sundari might be faring decently at the box office but it received mixed reviews from critics. Our take on the film read: “Param Sundari is essentially a straightforward Bollywood rom-com where boy meets girl, but society won’t let them marry. It’s budget DDLJ with an ‘explore Kerala’ rather than ‘explore Europe’ agenda. For all its comical tirades of not generalising the South, the film’s visual grammar makes a Kerala hamlet look no different than a Tamil Nadu village. It’s amusing to witness a product of the Hindi film industry, historically known for stereotyping the South, trying to teach viewers the difference between a Rajinikanth and a Mohanlal. Cinema lovers in the Hindi belt have been consuming Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam films, albeit dubbed, even before the term Pan-India was coined.”
