Ayan Mukerji has stepped away from directing responsibilities for Dhoom 4 and will be focusing now on the sequel of his mythological sci-fi actioner, Brahmastra, as per a recent report in Bollywood Hungama.
The report stated that the script for Dhoom 4 was written prior to Ayan's involvement by Shridhar Raghavan and the filmmaker had little room to give his inputs for the film. A source told the publication, “Ayan was just executing what was written on paper by Shridhar Raghavan, and had little say on the script and screenplay. He does not want to be on another journey of just execution, as he is a passionate filmmaker who prefers to exclusively work on the written material and bring more to the screen than what's written."
The decision was taken by Ayan after series of conversations with producer Aditya Chopra and Ranbir Kapoor, who reportedly has bene roped in to headline the film. “Both Chopra and Kapoor understood Ayan's point of view and have parted ways on the right note. Ayan is now working on Brahmastra 2 and will take the film on floors in 2026. The writing work is concluded, and some polishing is going on during his stay in the Himalayas,” the source added.
A new director is now on the lookout for the fourth part in the popular action film. As per earlier reports, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra, who starred in the earlier parts, are not set to return for the new film. However, an official announcement on this is awaited from the makers.
Ayan served as the director on the recently released War 2, which was backed by Aditya Chopra’s Yash Raj Films. The film, starring Hrithik Roshan, Jr NTR and Kiara Advani, failed to work at the box office and was met with lukewarm reviews.
