In a recent interview with Galatta Plus, where he discussed his film Haq, Emraan Hashmi revealed that he himself is responsible for the ‘serial kisser’ tag, which has long been associated with him. When interviewer Baradwaj Rangan told him about the reference to the moniker in Aaryan Khan's directorial debut The Ba***ds of Bollywood and asked him who invented it, Emraan admitted it was his own creation. The actor revealed that he once wore a friend’s T-shirt that said “serial kisser” and suggested that it made the term popular. “I snuck into his room the next morning. I had housekeeping open the door. I took that T-shirt out of his room. I went and wore it for that song,” the actor revealed. Recently, Emraan disclosed that he wore the outfit for a song in his 2005 film Jawani Diwani: A Youthful Joyride.
In the latest interview, he also added that his friend sold the T-shirt on the ecommerce platform eBay for a large amount of money.
Recently, the actor shared that he even liked the ‘serial kisser’ tag, but that he regretted wearing the outfit in hindsight.
The list of Emraan Hashmi's films with prominent kissing scenes is quite extensive, ranging between the mid-2000s and early 2010s, which earned him the aforementioned title. It kept following Emraan even after his departure into more complex roles in films, such as Once Upon a Time in Mumbai and Shanghai, to name two.
