Bhool Chuk Maaf box office: Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi’s comedy drama earns Rs 7.20 crore on Day 1

Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi’s time-loop comedy-drama Bhool Chuk Maaf has earned Rs 7.20 crore at the box-office on Day 1, the makers said on Saturday. Written and directed by Karan Sharma, it also features Sanjay Mishra, Seema Pahwa, Zakir Hussain, Raghubir Yadav, Ishtiyak Khan and Anubha Fatehpuria in pivotal roles.

The makers shared a poster of the film to share the numbers. In the caption, they wrote, “They didn’t just come to watch - they came to feel, laugh, cry, and celebrate together. Families across the country are giving their hearts to this one.”

As per Sacnilk, the film had an overall occupancy of 19.36 percent on May 23, with night shows amounting to 31.27 percent.

The film revolves around a soon-to-be-married man who realises that he is stuck in a time loop and keeps reliving the Haldi day before his wedding. It is produced by Dinesh Vijan and Sharada Karki Jalota.

CE’s review of the film reads, “Bhool Chuk Maaf often spreads in multiple directions, trying to find something to latch on to in order to reach its climax. The only amusing bit is when Rajkummar goes saccharine, being nice to everyone he sees, apologising for the minutest of mistakes, and being an embodiment of the adarsh balak (ideal boy) meme. With the rest, Bhool Chuk Maaf felt like a déjà vu, it has all happened before: these ghats of Banaras, these accented wisecracks, these actors who act like they were born to be sidekicks. It’s a rerun.”
