Cannes 2025: Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter and Homebound team walk the red carpet in style

At the Cannes Film Festival 2025, Janhvi Kapoor, Ishaan Khatter and the Homebound team walked the red carpet ahead of the film’s premiere in the Un Certain Regard section on May 21. Also present on the occasion was actor Vishal Jethwa, director Neeraj Ghaywan and producers Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta and Somen Mishra.

Janhvi wore a custom-made pink coloured skirt while Ishaan donned a maroon velvet jacket with black trousers. The makers shared a group photo from the premiere and wrote, “From Indian soil to the shores of Cannes - our team Homebound shines moments before the red carpet!”

Homebound marks Neeraj’s long-awaited return to the big screen and to Cannes, a decade after his debut film Masaan (2015) premiered at the festival and won two awards. It also boasts of legendary American filmmaker Martin Scorsese as the executive producer.

The film's synopsis reads, "Two childhood friends from a small North Indian village chase a police job that promises them the dignity they’ve long been denied. But as they inch closer to their dream, mounting desperation threatens the bond that holds them together."

Homebound has been produced by Dharma Productions with Marijke deSouza and Melita Toscan Du Plantier as co-producers. It has also secured French distribution through Ad Vitam, the acclaimed distributor behind celebrated international films, including Oscar-winners A Fantastic Woman (2017) and Son of Saul (2015), which also won the Grand Prix at Cannes.
