Aamir Khan pushes trailer release date of Sitaare Zameen Par amid Indo-Pak tensions

The release date of the trailer upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, which stars Aamir Khan in the lead, has been pushed. However, the makers haven't locked in the new release date of the trailer.

The news comes in the wake of the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan. A source close to the production house confirmed, "Concerning the ongoing developments at the country’s borders and the nationwide alert, Aamir Khan Productions have decided to postpone their upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par's trailer. Our thoughts are with the brave hearts of our armed forces who remain steadfast in protecting the nation. As responsible citizens, we believe it is important to respond with unity and restraint during this time". ac

The film is a spiritual sequel to Aamir's directorial debut Taare Zameen Par. Earlier, the makers of the film had unveiled the official first look poster, which featured Aamir Khan along with 10 debutant actors. Apart from Aamir and Genelia Deshmukh in lead roles, the film features 10 debutant actors — Aroush Datta, Gopi Krishna Varma, Samvit Desai, Vedant Sharma, Ayush Bhansali, Ashish Pendse, Rishi Shahani, Rishabh Jain, Naman Mishra, and Simran Mangeshkar.

Sitaare Zameen Par marks Aamir Khan’s return to the big screen after his 2022 film Laal Singh Chaddha, which was the official Indian remake of the Tom Hanks' Forrest Gump.

Sitaare Zameen Par is directed by RS Prasanna, known for making Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017). It has been written by Divy Nidhi Sharma and features music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya. The film is produced by Aamir Khan, Aparna Purohit and Ravi Bhagchandka.

Aamir had earlier revealed that the film is a remake of the Spanish film, Champions (2018) and he plays the role of a ‘rude’ basketball coach in it.

Sitaare Zameen Par is scheduled for release in theatres on June 20. According to several reports, Aamir Khan is reportedly keen to opt for a pay-per-view model on YouTube two months after its theatrical release. However, a confirmation is yet to arrive from the makers.
