Aamir Khan has often spoken about bringing the Mahabharat to the big screen. Recently, speaking at the India@2047 Summit hosted by ABP Live, the actor reiterated his dream of materialising the project and also hinted at which character he would like to play the adaptation of the epic.
Aamir at the event stated that taking up Mahabharat is a gargantuan task. “Yeh mera sapna hai ke main bana paun Mahabharat, lekin bohot mushkil sapna hai woh… (It is my dream to make the Mahabharat, but it’s a very difficult dream…). See, Mahabharat will never let you down… but you might let Mahabharat down,” he said.
When asked which character he would like to portray, Aamir shared, “Actually… mujhe Krishna ka kirdaar bohot hi prabhavit karta hai… I’m very inspired by him. So that’s a character I really love (Actually… I find the character of Krishna deeply impactful… I’m very inspired by him. So that’s a character I really love).”
The actor also went on to say that since the project is still under development, he prefers not to divulge details. “Kyunki yeh bohot bada project hai, toh main kuch badi cheezein bolna nahi cha raha hoon (Since this is such a big project, I don’t want to say anything major right now),” he said.
Currently, Aamir is awaiting the release of Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual sequel to his 2007 film Taare Zameen Par (2007). The film is slated to release on June 20.
