The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) and All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) have come out strongly against actor and singer Diljit Dosanjh for working with Pakistani actor Hania Aamir in his Punjabi film, Sardaar Ji 3.
In an interview with NDTV, FWICE President BN Tiwari said, “There will be complete non-cooperation. If the film releases anywhere, we will issue a directive of non-cooperation. We will ensure that Diljit Dosanjh won't get work (films or concerts) in any part of India. If he doesn't withdraw the release of the film, he won't get work in India.”
The film body has also written to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), urging them not to issue a certificate to the film.
Whereas AICWA issued a statement on social media saying, “All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) strongly condemns the inclusion of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the upcoming film Sardar Ji 3, produced and headlined by Indian singer and producer Diljit Dosanjh, along with other co-producers.”
They also decided to boycott Diljit from the Indian film industry. “We urge all Indian producers, production houses, music companies, event organisers, and film workers to stand united and not associate with Diljit Dosanjh in any professional capacity. We will approach various industry unions, workers’ bodies, and stakeholders to uphold this patriotic call,” the statement read.
After the Pahalgam terror attack, India reinforced a ban on Pakistani artists and content, including OTT and social media. Following this, the social media accounts of Pakistani artists were inaccessible in India.
Sardaarji 3 was scheduled earlier to hit the screens on June 27. It will only have an international release. The film's trailer was shared by Diljit on social media, where he is seen romancing Hania.
