Aamir Khan has opted to go for a different release strategy with his upcoming film, Sitaare Zameen Par. The advance booking for the film has started after the film got cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recently with two cuts.

As per a report in Bollywood Hungama, the distributors of the film have sent a list of requirements to theatres, which mention that there would be no show of the film before 9 am. Moreover, cinema halls have been asked to go for popular weekend pricing for the film. “Usually, big films go for blockbuster pricing, when the rates are sky-high. Aamir, however, has not allowed it, probably as it would have made it unaffordable for a large chunk of the moviegoers," a source told the publication.

Further, if the film is to be shown in a single-screen theatre, the exhibitor should have all the shows of Sitaare Zameen Par only and no other film will be screened. “Two-screen cinemas need to allot 8 shows. Multiplexes with 3, 4, 5 and 6 screens need to play 11, 14, 16 and 19 shows a day respectively. For 7-screen multiplexes, 22 shows are a must while for 8-screen plexes, 25 shows are mandatory in a day. There should be 28 shows in 9-screen cinemas and for multiplexes with 10 screens and more, the requirement is 31 shows," told the source.

Sitaare Zameen Par is a spiritual sequel to 2007’s Taare Zameen Par. A remake of the 2018 Spanish film Champions, the film is scheduled to release in theatres on June 20. It also stars Genelia Deshmukh in a pivotal role.
