
Kaalidhar Laapata (ZEE5, June 4): Abhishek Bachchan plays Kaalidhar, a middle-aged man who suffers from memory loss in this comedy-drama. When he overhears his siblings’ cruel plan to abandon him at the crowded Maha Kumbh Mela, Kaalidhar decides to live on his own terms. He befriends Ballu (Daivik Bhagela), an outspoken, street-smart 8-year-old, who helps Kaalidhar rediscover joy in his life. This will be the third film in recent times where Abhishek’s character explores a relationship with a child. Previous two being Shoojit Sircar's I Want To Talk (2024) and Remo D'Souza's Be Happy (2025). Kaalidhar Laapataa is directed by Madhumita, who also helmed the Tamil version, KD (2019). It also stars Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub and Daivik Bhagela in pivotal roles.
Pune Highway (Prime Video): Jim Sarbh stars in this thrilling murder-mystery that has been adapted from a play. It tells the story of three childhood friends, whose lives are changed when a dead body is discovered on a highway. Written and directed by Bugs Bhargava Krishna (Nail Polish) and Rahul DaCunha, the film also stars Amit Sadh, Anuvab Pal, Manjari Fadnnis, Ketaki Narayan, Sudeep Modak, Swapnil Ajgaonkar, Rajit Kapur, and Abhishek Krishnan in pivotal roles. It was screened at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Goa last year.
The Hunt—The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case (Sony LIV, June 4): The third release on Hindi OTT is National award-winning filmmaker, Nagesh Kukunoor's political-thriller based on the investigation post the killing of the former prime minister of India. It stars Amit Sial as D.R. Kaarthikeyan, leading the Special Investigation Team that worked on the case. The series delves into the 90 days of rigorous investigation after the assassination in 1991 which led to capturing of some of the conspirators and death of the mastermind, Sivarasan. It is based on the book Ninety Days by investigative journalist Anirudhya Mitra and also stars Sahil Vaid, Bhagavathi Perumal, Danish Iqbal, Girish Sharma, Vidyut Garg, Shafeeq Mustafa, Anjana Balaji, B Sai Dinesh, Shruthy Jayan, Gouri Menon in pivotal roles.
