The trailer of the SonyLIV series The Hunt--The Rajiv Gandhi Assassination Case, based on the investigation post the killing of the former prime minister of India, was unveiled by the makers on Wednesday. The political-thriller series is directed by National Award-winning filmmaker Nagesh Kukunoor and co-written by him along with Rohit Banawalikar and Sriram Rajan. It is based on the book Ninety Days by investigative journalist Anirudhya Mitra.

The trailer opens with an anonymous phone call being received at the Indian High Commission’s office in Sri Lanka’s Colombo. “Is Rajiv Gandhi alive?” asks the unknown caller, repeatedly. The female office bearer gets suspicious. “What is your name sir, and where are you calling from?”

We then see the suicide bomber getting ready to complete her mission. The trailer takes us into the behind-the-scenes of the investigation that occurred after the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi. Amit Sial plays D.R. Kaarthikeyan, leading the Special Investigation Team that worked on the case. The plot gets thicker as the team gathers clues and follows leads to catch the culprits.

The series also features Sahil Vaid as Amit Verma, (SP-CBI), Bhagavathi Perumal as Ragothaman (DSP-CBI), Danish Iqbal as Amod Kanth (DIG-CBI), Girish Sharma as, Radhavinod Raju (DIG-CBI), Vidyut Garg as Capt. Ravindran (NSG Commando), along with Shafeeq Mustafa, Anjana Balaji, B Sai Dinesh, Shruthy Jayan, Gouri Menon, and others.

The show will start streaming on SonyLIV from July 4.
