Although Anurag Kashyap’s Kennedy couldn’t find a space in Indian theatres or OTT platforms, the film has been selected as the only title from India to feature in the debut lineup of popular film-rating website Letterboxd’s rental platform Video Store.
Letterboxd has officially launched Video Store today (December 10) featuring a curated mix of acclaimed movies, exclusive Academy Award submissions and festival hits unavailable elsewhere.
The platform will let its members watch titles on transactional video-on-demand (TVOD) model, free from subscriptions. Kennedy premiered at Cannes Film Festival in 2023.
However, the film will not be available to stream in India. Viewers only in United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, France, Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, and Switzerland can watch the film on Letterboxd from December 10.
Speaking about it, Anurag said, “I am happy that finally the film will be available for the general audience to watch in some parts of the world. It’s one of my most personal films and would love to get the audience feedback and reaction, and I am thankful to Letterboxd for putting it on their new platform. And I am, hopeful that we’ll soon be able to release it in India too as the producers are working on it.”
The film stars Rahul Bhatt and Sunny Leone and is produced by Ranjan Singh, Good Bad Films and Zee Studios.
Ranjan calls the inclusion a “momentous milestone” for the team, noting that Kennedy has been on an extraordinary global run, travelling to more than 30 film festivals since its Cannes debut.
“Yes, it’s a great moment that after traveling to almost 30 festivals across the world, the film will be available to cinephiles in these countries and we are extremely proud as the only Indian film in this line-up. We want to thank Letterboxd for choosing Kennedy and our studio partners Zee Studios for the support that they’ve given to make this possible. We are working together on the India release of the film soon,” he said.
Other films which will be available to stream on the platform are It Ends (2025), Sore: A Wife From the Future (2025), The Mysterious Gaze of the Flamingo (2025) and some classics like Tiger on the Beat (1988), Kisapmata (1981) and Poison (1991). Additionally, Before We Vanish (2017) and It Must Be Heaven (2019) will also stream on the video store.
