The trailer of Nawazuddin Siddiqui headliner Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders was unveiled by the makers on Tuesday. Directed by Honey Trehan and written by Smita Singh, the film, a spiritual sequel of the 2020 film of the same name, sees Radhika Apte reprise her role. There are also new additions to the cast with Chitrangada Singh, Deepti Naval, Ila Arun Bajpai, Revathy Asha Kelluni, Rajat Kapoor and Sanjay Kapoor.
Inspector Jatil Yadav (Nawaz) gets entangled in a new case. All members of the influential Bansal family have been brutally murdered in their house. The only survivor is Meera Bansal (Chirangda) who might be hiding some secrets. The case’s links also connect to Guru Ma (Deepti) and her cult of followers. Mass murder or black magic? The case goes into multiple directions and it is now up to Inspector Jatil to solve this mystery and uncover the truth.
Talking about his character, Nawazuddin said, “Jatil may have evolved in every way, but his resolve is exactly the same. His objectivity, his razor-sharp eye for detail, and his ability to cut through noise remain his greatest weapons. Even when power, influence, and intimidation close in on him, he refuses to let anything derail his search for the truth. Returning to the character felt thrilling.”
Chitrangda, who is the new addition to the cast, added, “Meera is one of the most interesting and challenging characters I have played. She lives in shadows which are emotional, moral, and psychological. There are many layers to her, she has a lot to say but there are things she cannot reveal because she is afraid.”
The film also features Priyanka Setia, Shridhar Dubey, Akhilendra Mishra.
Raat Akeli Hai: The Bansal Murders releases on Netflix on December 19.
