
Ahead of the box office clash between Rajinikanth headliner Coolie and Hrithik Roshan-starrer War 2, the latter took to social media on Wednesday to congratulate his “first teacher” on completing fifty years in the industry.
Hrithik made his first credited appearance as a child artist in the 1986 film Bhagwaan Dada which starred Rajinikanth in the titular role. “Took my first steps as an actor at your side. You were one of my first teachers, Rajinikanth sir, and continue to be an inspiration and a standard. Congratulations on completing 50 years of on-screen magic!” wrote Hrithik on X.
In advance sales, Coolie is running ahead of War 2. As per reports, the Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial has already rakes in Rs 80 crore in worldwide early sales. For Ayan Mukerji’s War 2 the number is between Rs 10 to Rs 15 crore.
War 2 is a sequel to 2019’s War, which was the year’s highest grossing film and will see Hrithik return as super spy Kabir. The sequel marks the sixth installment in YRF’s Spy Universe, featuring Hrithik alongside NTR Jr and Kiara Advani. Produced by Yash Raj Films, the film will release in theatres on August 14 in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil.
Coolie, on the other hand, marks Rajinikanth’s first collaboration with celebrated director Lokesh Kanagaraj. The film also boasts of an ensemble cast of Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan, Upendra, Soubin Shahir and Sathyaraj, among others.
Coolie is produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner.
