Ridhi Dogra opened up recently about working together with Pakistani actor Fawad Khan in the upcoming film Abir Gulaal. She said that she worked with him when the government allowed it and that Indians can "open our arms and be welcoming and also close them when needed".

The film is generating backlash in the context of the recent terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam, which left 26 dead and several others injured. Ridhi took to X on Thursday to condemn the attack, saying, “Break ties with people and places that remain silent or deep down have tied elsewhere.” However, some users pointed out that she has worked with Fawad in Abir Gulaal.

Ridhi defended herself and replied, “I Did when my govt allowed it. And I stand by the laws and rules. But I also know Peace, Grace and Harmony is important for a healthy civilization. Yes, there’s duality in these words but that is the very life we lead. On this earth.”

She added, “I won’t keep quiet just because of my profession I choose peaceful collaboration. So don’t waste your anger on me. I’m as angry as everyone. I just choose to remain dignified towards others. Anyway. This is not about me. But we’re all angry. I am just as everyone else.”

In response to another user, The Sabarmati Report actor said, “Civilization is based in community. Not isolating. But If we can open our arms and be welcoming, we can also close them when needed. And that fine too.”

Meanwhile, the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) also issued a statement on Wednesday reiterating a ban on Pakistani artists, saying that it will take steps to ensure that Abir Gulaal is not released in India.

Issuing a warning, they wrote, “FWICE would like to emphasise that any member of our organisation or its affiliate associations such as the actors, directors, other technicians and Producers or the Production houses found cooperating with Pakistani personnel will be subject to disciplinary action. Further, we will take all necessary steps to ensure that Abir Gulaal is not released in India.”

Abir Gulaal was set to be released in theatres on May 9.
