Nushrratt Bharuccha opened up recently about how actors who belong to the industry have an advantage in finding work. Talking about Sonakshi Sinha and Shraddha Kapoor, Nushrratt said that it is difficult for her to reach out to directors in comparison to them who have contacts in the industry.
In an interview with Shubhankar Mishra, she was asked how she almost started working at the same time as Sonakshi and Shraddha and while the two went on to star in some big films later, Nushrratt had to wait for some time to get recognition. Speaking of it, she said, “They definitely have an advantage because they know the industry and they know the people. If not them, then their parents know. Due to that, they are able to reach places that I can’t, and they can knock on doors which I never knew existed. If I need to meet a producer or a director, who is going to give me their number? Who should I ask?”
She added, “I don’t want to call them ‘nepo kids’ because I don’t like that term because I think everyone has their struggles and pressures. Yes, they do have some inroads into the industry that I don’t, but it is fine.”
She reflected on how she reached out to many people for work. “One day director Kabir Khan replied to me, and he asked me to come and meet him, and that made my month. There are other directors like Luv Ranjan, Hansal Mehta and Vishal Furia who want to work with me. I am very close to them, and I feel like they are family.”
Known for acting in films like Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011), Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018) and Dream Girl (2019) among others, Nushrratt was most recently seen in the horror-thriller Chhorii 2, which released on Prime Video.
