Bhool Chuk Maaf Trailer: Rajkummar Rao gets stuck in time before his wedding day

The trailer of Rajkummar Rao’s upcoming romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf was unveiled by the makers on Thursday. Written and directed by Karan Sharma, the film also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Sanjay Mishra, Seema Pahwa, Zakir Hussain, Raghubir Yadav, Ishtiyak Khan and Anubha Fatehpuria in pivotal roles.

The trailer opens in a police station with the families of Rajkummar and Wamiqa’s characters arguing about their marriage. It is decided that the two will get married. However, as the wedding festivities begin, Rajkummar realises that he is stuck in a time loop. Each day, he wakes up on the same day, i.e., on his Haldi ceremony. He tries explaining to others that he is stuck back in time, but no one understands him. Then, he is seen praying to God and asking godmen for a fix. Yet, there is nothing that seems to work. The trailer is filled with light-hearted moments of humour involving his unusual situation.

Speaking about the film, Karan shares, “It’s a story dressed up in comedy, confusion, and a lot of heart. But at the same time, at its core, Bhool Chuk Maaf is about self-reflection hidden within chaos. We’ve taken a unique and fun idea but grounded it in relationships, family, and faith — the things that define all of us. It’s a film I want families to watch together.”

Producer Dinesh Vijan adds, “At its core, Bhool Chuk Maaf explores the two biggest small-town pressures: finding the right bride and securing a decent job. Chokri aur naukri, as we say. Ranjan and Titli are madly in love but caught between the very real tussle of love and naukri, as they navigate the expectations of their heart that wants romance and of the family that wants a reliable pay cheque. Layered with humour, deep human emotions and the beautiful tradition of nek karya, this film will make you laugh, maybe even cry, and most of all, believe in love and life again.”

Presented by Dinesh Vijan in association with Amazon MGM Studios, Bhool Chuk Maaf is set to be released in theatres on May 9.
