I am a woman, not a parcel: Alia Bhatt reacts to rumours of delaying Hollywood debut

Actor Alia Bhatt, who announced that she and Ranbir Kapoor are expecting a baby on Monday, shut down rumours that she will delay her Hollywood debut project Heart of Stone due to her pregnancy.

Sharing a media report on her Instagram story, she said, "Meanwhile we live in some people's heads we also live in some patriarchal world. Nothing has got delayed, No one needs to pick anyone up. I am a woman, not a parcel. I do not need to rest at all but good to know you'll have a doctor's certification. This is 2022. Can we please get out of this archaic way of thinking. Now if you would excuse me, my shot is ready."

Meanwhile, congratulations are in order for the couple. Many celebrities and fans took to social media to register their wishes. 

From Alia’s sister Shaheen Bhatt to filmmakers Karan Johar, Ayan Mukerji and Ranbir’s sister Riddhima, everyone congratulated the couple on the special occasion. Alia Bhatt’s Heart of Stone co-star, Gal Gadot, commented with a heart emoji on the former's post. 

Rakul Preet Singh, Tiger Shroff, Parineeti Chopra, Mouni Roy, Ishaan Khatter and Priyanka Chopra, Anil Kapoor, Farhan Akhtar, Kriti Sanon, Sonu Sood were some of the celebrities who congratulated Ranbir and Alia. 

Alia thanked on Instagram stories for all the love and said, "Overwhelmed with all the love. I have tried to read everyone's messages and good wishes and all I want to say is , it truly feels so special to celebrate such a big moment of our lives with all the love and blessings. Thank you to every single one of you."

Alia Bhatt, who was last seen in SS Rajamouli's pan-Indian film RRR, is awaiting the release of Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva, directed by Ayan Mukerji which is releasing in theatres on September 9. She also has Karan Johar's Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani and her much-awaited Hollywood debut Heart of Stone where she is acting along with Gal Gadot.
