Seven years after Avengers: Endgame brought the Infinity Saga to a theatrical close, Marvel is once again asking audiences to assemble. But this time, the appeal isn't simply about revisiting one of the biggest blockbusters in cinematic history. The studio has given its return a new hook, positioning the film as a stepping stone towards its next major crossover event.
The film, returning to theatres as Avengers: Endgame Encore, comes with additional footage and an exclusive look at Avengers: Doomsday, which is slated to hit screens in December. The re-release has also been mounted across premium formats, including IMAX, 4DX and Marvel Studios' Infinity Vision, giving fans another reason to experience a film many have already watched multiple times. Marvel's decision comes shortly after Spider-Man: Brand New Day's strong run in India, further keeping the MCU in the theatrical conversation.
That strategy appears to be working, with Endgame Encore recording Rs 4.45 crore in advance sales across its first three days, including block seats, according to Sacnilk. Without block seats, the three-day figure stands at Rs 50.81 lakh from 12,709 tickets across 1,613 shows. The September 25 release has so far registered Rs 1.64 crore in advances for its opening day, followed by Rs 1.53 crore for Saturday and Rs 1.29 crore for Sunday, with block seats included.
The numbers have also gathered pace considerably. Sacnilk's previous update had put the three-day advance at Rs 3.09 crore on September 21, meaning the latest figure represents an increase of around Rs 1.36 crore in roughly a day. The National Capital Region, Bengaluru and Mumbai are currently among the strongest contributors, while Chennai has also shown high occupancy in the limited shows listed in the advance data.
The premium screens appear to be playing an important role in the pre-sales. For the opening day, IMAX 2D alone has recorded around Rs 8.07 lakh from 1,513 tickets, while 4DX 3D has crossed Rs 4.67 lakh from 801 tickets, according to Sacnilk. The film is being released in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu, with screenings also available in formats such as MX4D, SCREENX, Dolby Vision, HDR Barco and ICE.
The re-release also arrives with a format-specific incentive. While the regular Encore presentation includes new material, the additional Avengers: Doomsday content is attached to select IMAX and Infinity Vision screenings. Earlier reports have noted that the standard version contains nearly two minutes of new footage, while the enhanced Infinity Vision presentation runs longer with additional material. Avengers: Endgame Encore will release in Indian theatres on September 25.
