Director Matt Reeves' follow-up to The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson in the titular role and as Bruce Wayne, is one of the most highly anticipated upcoming films. Written by Reeves alongside Mattson Tomlin, The Batman Part II also stars Sebastian Stan as Harvey Dent / Two Face, Colin Farrell as Oswald "Oz" Cobb / The Penguin, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, among others.
Recently, Sebastian Stan spoke about his experience working on the The Batman sequel. Speaking to Variety, the actor said that he gets the impression during his set visits that Reeves is making a sequel that is worth the wait. "I go to set sometimes and I look around and I’m like, I think we’re making f****ng Godfather Part Two. I really don’t want to raise it up, but I do feel like it’s going to be a payoff." The actor added, "It’s really grounded and real, and that’s what I loved about it. You want to tease it a little, but we still have a long time."
Speaking of time, The Batman Part II faced multiple delays over the course of its journey. Initially, its release was pushed to October 2 this year primarily because of the 2023 Hollywood writers' and actors' strikes halting script progress and studio availability. Then, the film's release was delayed to October 01, 2027, so that Reeves would have more time to polish its script. After multiple delays, it has finally be slated for a February 18, 2028, release.
Production on the film commenced at Warner Bros Studios Leavesden earlier this June. The film is produced by Dylan Clark, Reeves himself, and Lynn Harris. DC Studios and Warner Bros are the banners involved. Recently, the makers dropped a brief video showing a glimpse of Pattinson as Batman.
