Marvel has several familiar faces returning to Disney+, but its latest television announcements suggest that the studio is also looking to expand into new territory. From a spy thriller that is keeping its premise under wraps to animated stories involving zombies and Spider-Man's symbiote suit, the upcoming slate covers a range of corners of the Marvel universe.

The announcements come as Marvel Television and Marvel Animation presented their upcoming projects at New York Comic Con on October 8. The panel also featured updates on the final season of Daredevil: Born Again and the next chapter of Vision, who returns in the upcoming series VisionQuest.

Among the major announcements was Zodiac, a new live-action spy-thriller series set to premiere on Disney+ in 2028. Marvel Television head Brad Winderbaum revealed the show's logo and confirmed that filming will begin in London in spring 2027. He also teased that there are hidden details in the logo for comic-book readers, while keeping the plot and casting details under wraps.

Marvel also confirmed three new Marvel Zombies animated specials, with one arriving each year from 2027 to 2029. The first, Marvel Zombies: The Winter Soldier, is scheduled for Halloween 2027, followed by Marvel Zombies: The Fist of Khonshu in 2028 and Marvel Zombies: The Last Guardian in 2029. Director Bryan Andrews will return for the specials. Winderbaum described the project as a gory yet visually striking series and teased that the final instalment's central character would be a surprise.

The Fist of Khonshu title points towards Moon Knight, the superhero associated with the Egyptian deity Khonshu, while The Last Guardian has prompted speculation about which Marvel character it will follow. The studio has not revealed the complete plots of the specials or confirmed the identities of all the characters involved.

Meanwhile, the second season of Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man will premiere on January 13, 2027. The animated series will bring Peter Parker into conflict with Doctor Octopus and introduce the black symbiote suit, a development that could pave the way for Venom. A preview shown at the panel also featured Harry Osborn, Nico Minoru and Otto Octavius. The series offers an alternate take on Spider-Man's early years, separate from the live-action films.

The panel also offered a fresh look at VisionQuest, the upcoming series starring Paul Bettany as Vision. Set to premiere on October 14, the show follows WandaVision and Agatha All Along, completing what Marvel has described as a trilogy. James Spader returns as Ultron, this time in human form. Attendees at the convention were shown a new trailer and the first episode ahead of its Disney+ release.

Daredevil: Born Again was another highlight, with Charlie Cox, Krysten Ritter and Finn Jones appearing at the panel to preview the third and final season. The footage showed Matt Murdock in prison following the events of the second season, while also teasing a reunion of the Defenders. The teaser featured Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Danny Rand receiving police badges, with Jessica pointing out that there should be four, hinting at the team's wider reunion. The season is expected to arrive in 2027.

Marvel also confirmed that X-Men '97 will return for a third season. The animated series, which continues the story of the 1990s X-Men show, is expected to maintain an annual release schedule. Further details about the new season's story remain under wraps.

With Zodiac adding a new live-action property to the slate and Marvel Zombies expanding through annual specials, the announcements point to a mix of new stories and returning franchises for Disney+. The studio has yet to announce a release date for Zodiac beyond 2028, while the three Marvel Zombies specials will roll out over the next three years.
