Some love stories find their happy ending at the altar, while others discover that the real story begins after the wedding. For Joanne and Noah, the journey of navigating their differences, family expectations and the complexities of their relationship is far from over. Having taken an unexpected step towards forever, the couple will now have another chapter to look forward to.

The romantic comedy has followed the unconventional relationship between an agnostic woman and a Jewish rabbi, exploring the challenges of bringing together two people from different backgrounds. While their relationship has been at the centre of the series, the evolving equations between their respective families have also provided much of its humour and emotional conflict.

Netflix has renewed Nobody Wants This, starring Kristen Bell and Adam Brody, for a fourth season. The announcement comes just over two weeks after the third season premiered on October 22. The upcoming instalment will pick up after Joanne and Noah's surprise beach wedding, which concluded the latest season. However, as co-showrunner Jenni Konner revealed to Netflix's Tudum, not everyone in their lives is aware of the development yet. "They're married in the eyes of God, but not in the eyes of anyone else yet," she said, adding that several people will discover their marriage when the story resumes.

Created by Erin Foster, the series is co-run by Foster, Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan. The third season saw Joanne and Noah move in together, with their relationship appearing more settled than before. Joanne also completes her conversion to Judaism, while the couple's wedding comes as an unexpected development towards the end. However, their journey is not the only one that remains unfinished. Sasha (Timothy Simons) and Esther (Jackie Tohn) find themselves navigating the dating scene following their separation, while Morgan (Justine Lupe) and Sasha's growing closeness complicates matters further. The third-season finale leaves the latter three characters with several unresolved feelings, particularly after Esther discovers Sasha's involvement with Morgan.

Speaking about the possibility of continuing the series beyond Joanne's conversion, Foster had earlier told Netflix's Tudum that the story was not necessarily reaching its conclusion with that development. "There are two people from different worlds, coming together and making it work," she said, explaining that the couple still had to figure out how to build a life together despite their differing approaches. Their married life, therefore, is likely to offer another set of challenges for the upcoming season.

The series stars Bell and Brody alongside Simons, Lupe, Tohn, Stephanie Faracy, Michael Hitchcock, Paul Ben-Victor, Tovah Feldshuh, Andrew Rannells, Sarah Silverman, Shiloh Bearman and Sherry Cola, among others. Season 4 will be filmed in Los Angeles, where the previous instalments were also shot. A premiere date for the new season has not yet been announced.
