A set of horror films are going to hit theatres in India soon, including Obsession, Backrooms, and Passenger. Recently, Bad Boys for Life star Jacob Scipio spoke about his experience shooting for Passenger. In the film, directed by André Øvredal, a couple witness a horrific accident on a highway and get haunted by a malevolent entity known as the Passenger. This turns their adventurous life in a van into a nightmarish situation.
It would seem that the negativity in the story spilled over to the set as well. As for Jacob Scipio, shooting the film was quite different from whatever he had experienced in his career before. In fact, the production experience became so unnerving for Scipio that the actor even sought divine intervention.
"It helps to be scared, when you are making a scary movie," the actor said as he recounted his production experience. He added, "We have had a bunch of things happen on this production that I don’t know about, where I felt the evil spirit up there in the air."
The nagging feeling even made Scipio ask the producers for a specific act of divinity. "So, at the beginning of production, I made a point to the producers that I wanted a priest to come here and bless our set with holy water and incantations. Because when you’re inviting this kind of negative, evil spirit into your life, you have to offset that with some positive," Scipio added.
Passenger also stars Lou Llobell and Melissa Leo. The film recently had its world premiere. It is expected to hit theatres in India on May 29, but advance bookings for it are yet to open.
