Earlier, we reported about director Vanessa Caswill's film Reminders of Him, starring Maika Monroe and Tyriq Withers, being set to hit theatres on March 13, Friday. The film is based on a Colleen Hoover novel of the same name. The story explores complex and fragile human emotions, including fleeting feelings of happiness that arrive amidst despair. According to the makers, Caswill has tried to make the performances in the film as authentic as possible while focusing on a visual language which supports the story's emotional arc.
The makers say that Caswill has approached the film with a process that is carefully layered, tapping into her deep connection with the central themes of the novel and prioritising the emotional essence of each character. Thus, the director promises a cinematic experience which honours the essence of the base story with depth and sensitivity.
Speaking about the project, Caswill said, "What stayed with me was how clearly the story understands that happiness and beauty arrive in brief, unexpected moments. My instinct was to stay faithful to the book and trust that the visual language would come naturally from the material. If I could capture the heart of the story honestly, I was confident the film would find its own voice."
The film also stars Rudy Pankow, Lauren Graham, Bradley Whitford, Lainey Wilson, Jennifer Robertson, Zoe Kosovic, Monika Myers, Hilary Jardine, and Nicholas Duvernay. It is the third Colleen Hoover adaptation to hit theatres in back-to-back years, the first two being It Ends with Us and Regretting You. Another film based on her novel Verity is expected to release later this year.
