A homicidal boy is on the loose. The adorable Pinocchio doll that children grew up with, is now turning to deadly ways in his mission to become "real." The first trailer from Pinocchio: Unstrung puts blood on the nose of the doll as his sinister plan terrorises young children and adults.
The 2.21-minute-long trailer sees a young boy James (Cameron Bell) experiencing the loss of a loved one for the first time. To help him heal, a close family member Geppetto (Richard Brake) gives him a wooden doll named Pinocchio, but mentions to him that he is very much alive. From day 1, Pinocchio says he wants to be like his friend and the difference between them are just "organs and stuff." With the help of Cricket (Robert Englund), he goes into a murder rampage to take what he requires to make him "real". The trailer quickly turns dark and gory as he goes on to find malicious ways to fulfil his wishes.
Written and directed by Rhys Frake-Waterfield, the film is part of the Twisted Childhood Universe and comes from the team behind Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey, Bambi: The Reckoning, and Blood and Honey 2.
According to the makers, "Pinocchio: Unstrung explores a dark coming-of-age reimagining of Pinocchio. This unsettling tale follows the iconic puppet's disturbing journey toward becoming real."
The upcoming film also stars Adrian Burton, Peter DeSouza-Feighoney, Charlotte Jackson Coleman, Kelly Rian Sanson, and others.
Frake-Waterfield and Scott Jeffrey are producing under their banner Jagged Edge Productions with a release date yet to be specified.
