Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey is having a dream first weekend at the box office in India and the Matt Damon-headlined epic has sailed passed the Rs 50 crore mark and is inching towards the milestone Rs 100 crore. After earning Rs 20.76 crore in gross collections on its opening day, the epic, based on Homer's works, minted Rs 22 crore in nett collections on its second day. On Day 3, The Odyssey collected a net of Rs 21.90 crore across 9,195 shows. This brings total India gross collections to Rs 73.19 crore and total India net collections to Rs 61.30 crore so far.

Worldwide, the numbers have been bigger. It grossed $264.1 million globally during its opening weekend, marking Nolan's biggest worldwide opening of his career. The Odyssey's biggest collections are once again coming from the English language as it contributed to almost Rs 17 crore on day 3. But the film's Hindi, Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions too enjoyed significant revenue with Rs 3 crore, Rs 75 lakh and Rs 1.15 crore respectively.

For the unversed, the film is based on Greek king Odysseus' (Matt Damon) long and ardous 10-year-long journey after the Trojan war to reunite with his wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland). It has been earning rave reviews across the world for its stunning cinematography and engaging screenplay.

The star-studded cast also features Robert PattinsonZendaya, Lupita Nyong'o, Charlize Theron, Jon Bernthal, Benny Safdie, John Leguizamo, Elliot Page, Himesh Patel, Bill Irwin, Samantha Morton, Jesse Garcia, Will Yun Lee, Rafi Gavron, Shiloh Fernandez, Mia Goth, among others. Nolan and his wife Emma Thomas have produced the film through their production company, Syncopy.
