

The Conjuring: First Communion, the prequel to the popular horror franchise, has cast Garrett Wareing and Amanda Fix as paranormal investigators Ed Warren and Lorraine Warren, respectively. Set years preceding the events of The Conjuring (2013), the film is directed by Rodrigue Huart from a screenplay by Richard Naing and Ian Goldberg. Wareing and Fix are set to portray the roles played by Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga in the franchise.
Created by James Wan, The Conjuring franchise started with the 2013 film of the same name. It also includes The Conjuring 2 (2016), The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021), and Conjuring: Last Rites (2025). Wilson and Farmiga signed off from the franchise after Conjuring: Last Rites, which has reportedly earned a gross collection of around $500 million at the global box office.
Overall, the franchise has grossed more than $2.5 billion from theatres worldwide, according to reports. Meanwhile, the Annabelle franchise and The Nun films are also part of the broader Conjuring universe.
Garrett Wareing is known for his roles in Independence Day: Resurgence, the Netflix series Ransom Canyon and Manifest, and the film adaptation of Stephen King;s novel The Long Walk. Amanda Fix's credits include North of Normal, High School, Orphan Black: Echoes, Daisy Jones and the Six, and Something Very Bad Is Going to Happen. Fix's upcoming projects include Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma.
Coming back to The Conjuring: First Communion, the film is backed by producer Peter Safran, and it has John Rickard, Romel Adam, and Natalia Safran serving as executive producers. New Line Cinema has slated The Conjuring prequel for a September 10, 2027, release.
