The MCU heroes get a flashback on who Victor Von Doom was before he became the harbinger of madness and chaos in the new trailer of Avengers: Doomsday unveiled by Marvel Studios during a showcase at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event on August 15.
The 'Special Look' released at the event, teased the impending showdown between Doctor Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) and a multiverse worth of heroes. Vanessa Kirby’s Sue Storm shares how Dr Doom "used to be different". She goes on to explain that he was kind and caring, before "everything he loved was taken from him".
She describes him as a man who was not just lost, but also "broken". The glimpse then shows the mass destruction created by Doom followed by Reed Richards/Mister Fantastic (Pedro Pascal) confronting Victor on why he turned evil. It further shows the rest of the Fantastic Four cast, Loki (Tom Hiddleston), Wakandans, Cyclops, before Thor (Chris Hemsworth) comes down to have a showdown with Doom. He says, "You will beg for hell long before I grant it" as he takes his axe Stormbreaker to kill him, but Doom stops it with ease in just one hand after which Thor is pushed away by his green energy.
Helmed by the Russo brothers, Avengers: Doomsday brings together the Wakandans, Talokians, New Avengers, Fantastic Four, X-Men, Thor, Hulk and Captain America from the original Avengers. In addition to the new trailer, Marvel Studios also unveiled a new poster for the film.
The cast also includes Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Joseph Quinn, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Kathryn Newton, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn, Mabel Cadena, with Tenoch Huerta Mejia.
Avengers: Doomsday is the 39th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and is scheduled to be released on December 18, 2026, as part of Phase Six of the MCU. The sequel, Avengers: Secret Wars, is set to be released on December 17, 2027.
