After Kirsten Dunst and Paul Anthony Kelly, Brittany Snow becomes the latest addition to the cast of the Lionsgate sequel to The Housemaid. Titled The Housemaid's Secret, the film features Sweeney reprising her role as Millie Calloway from the original, alongside Michele Morrone, who played Enzo.
The film is an adaptation of Freida McFadden's novel of the same name, which marked the second book in her Housemaid series. The novel series follows Millie Calloway, played by Sydney Sweeney in the film, who becomes an attendant at an affluent couple's penthouse. When she is not permitted to meet her employer, Wendy Garrick, Calloway starts to suspect her husband.
Paul Feig, who helmed the first film, returns for the sequel, which is also a thriller. Rebecca Sonnenshine is writing the screenplay for the sequel, just as how she adapted the book for the first film. The movie is produced by Feig himself alongside Laura Fischer, in addition to Sydney Sweeney of Fifty-Fifty Films and Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures.
While Dunst was announced to play Mrs Garrick, Snow is said to portray a character named Marybeth. With production for The Housemaid's Secret scheduled to begin later this year, the studio has also said it is also looking to adapt more of McFadden's beloved thrillers from the same franchise.
Returning as executive producer is Cary Elter for Hidden Pictures. Alex Young of the banner will also serve as an executive producer, and Kaylee McGregor will co-produce. The film is gearing up to open in theatres on December 17, 2027, alongside Avengers: Secret Wars.
Ever since she appeared on X, Ti West's horror thriller, Snow has seen a career resurgence. Her most recent appearance was in The Beast In Me, the Netflix limited series with an Emmy nomination, in which she starred alongside Matthew Rhys and Claire Danes. Her other credits include Hunting Wives, The Night Agent and Murdaugh: Death in the Family.
