Composer Labrinth has addressed his absence from the upcoming third season of Euphoria, revealing that his decision to step away stemmed from personal and professional boundaries.

In a recent Instagram Story, Labrinth suggested that his exit was tied to how he was treated during the process. “When I work for someone, their vision is paramount to me, but I don’t let people treat me like shit,” he wrote, adding that he ultimately chose to remove his contributions. “People will comfortably lie in this industry and still call themselves honest people. So no cap, I decided to remove whatever music I had in it.”

Despite the strong words, Labrinth clarified that there is no bad blood with the network itself. “I spoke to HBO; as far as I know, we are cool,” he noted.

The development comes as creator Sam Levinson recently acknowledged Labrinth’s influence on the show’s identity. Speaking to Rolling Stone, Levinson described him as “an incredible collaborator” who helped define the series’ sound. However, he also hinted at a creative shift in Season 3, which jumps ahead five years. With the characters now older, Levinson said the show has moved away from its earlier “pop roots", adding, “In general, I was less interested in needle drops and more interested in something that guided us through this world."

Taking over scoring duties for the new season is Hans Zimmer, who will lead the musical direction when the series premieres. Labrinth, who composed the music for the first two seasons, became closely associated with the show through widely streamed tracks such as 'All for Us', 'Formula', and 'Mount Everest', along with 'Never Felt So Alone', which featured vocals from Billie Eilish and earned a Grammy nomination.

His latest comments follow an earlier outburst last month, where he publicly distanced himself from both the show and the industry, writing, “I’m done with this industry. F*** Columbia. Double f*** Euphoria. I’m out. Thank you and good night x.”
