Actor Tom Holland is set to reprise his Spider-Man role from the previous instalments of the franchise in an upcoming film, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton. While it was reported that principal photography on Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been wrapped, Holland recently revealed the shoot of new scenes.
Speaking to GQ, the actor said that the team behind the film shot certain scenes again. "We’re finding some ways to add a little bit more humor. We’re layering in a villain plotline in a new way and some really fun stuff," he said.
Interestingly, the revelation comes shortly after the makers dropped a trailer for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The film also stars Zendaya, Sadie Sink of Stranger Things fame, Jon Bernthal, Mark Ruffalo, Michael Mando and Jacob Batalon, among others. The film brings back Zendaya as Spider-Man's love interest MJ and Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds from the previous franchise instalments. On the other hand, Ruffalo reprises his role as Bruce Banner/The Hulk from the earlier MCU films, Bernthal as Frank Castle/The Punisher from Marvel Studios series such as Daredevil, and Mando comes back as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming.
The film has been made as the beginning of a new Spider-Man trilogy. The makers are yet to reveal further details about the film's plot. It is set for a July 31 release in theatres.
Beyond Brand New Day, Tom Holland's upcoming films include The Odyssey, directed by Christopher Nolan.
