After ruffling a few feathers in the allegorical vampire film Sinners, for which he won the Best Actor Oscar award this year, actor Michael B Jordan is set to entertain the audience again, this time with a comedy film from Skydance Animation and Netflix. The makers of Swapped dropped the first official trailer for it earlier this Thursday. Jordan himself came on video in the Swapped trailer, alongside his nephew and niece. The film is directed by Tangled fame Nathan Greno from a screenplay John Whittington, known for The Lego Batman Movie, alongside his writing partners Robert Snow and Christian Magalhães.
In the movie, Jordan voices a small woodland creature and Juno Temple lends his voice to a bird. According to Netflix, the two "find themselves in a body swap mishap" that forces them "to walk in each other’s feathers and fur as they embark on a wild journey together."
Netflix also describes Swapped as an adventure similar to Freaky Friday that has a wilderness setting. Also starring in the movie are Cedric the Entertainer, Justina Machado, Tracy Morgan, Lolly Adefope, and Ambika Mod.
Director Nathan Greno recently called it "a body swap" movie that is different from what audiences have watched before in the genre. Greno added, "Swapped is an unpredictable, emotional ride — full of humor, spectacle, and heart. We drew from live-action nature documentaries, exploring the complexity of a wild ecosystem to capture something that feels vibrant and deeply human."
The animation film is slated for a May 01 release on Netflix, something which the streamer reiterated while dropping the Swapped trailer.
Coming back to Michael B Jordan, the actor recently stunned the world by bagging Best Actor Oscar for his performance as twin brothers in Ryan Coogler's Sinners. He also has a reimaginated version of The Thomas Crown Affair in the pipeline.
