Actor Michael B Jordan is coming back to direction duties after Creed III with a reimagination of The Thomas Crown Affair. Jordan spoke about the project in a recent conversation with Variety. The actor-director said that he "loved the 1999 version" when he watched it in childhood, especially for its slickness, elements of art, and lead actor Pierce Brosnan. The actor said that, having not visited museums in childhood, the Pierce Brosnan starrer showed him "a different side of New York". Jordan also disclosed that by the time MGM asked him about his next project after Creed III, he had made up his mind having also seen the 1968 version of The Thomas Crown Affair, starring Steve McQueen in the titular role.
Jordan added that he wished to make a "reimagination" of the story and not a mere reboot. The actor said that the concept of the earlier films, concerning affluent protagonists stealing just for fun, will not work for today's audience. He said that his iteration of the film will be "more personal" with "higher" stakes as compared to the first two versions, although it will still have elements of romance and fashion. The actor also called it the second-biggest challenge he has undertaken in his career so far.
The film also stars Ruth E Carter as the Queen, Adria Arjona, Danai Gurira, Pilou Asbæk, and Kenneth Branagh.
