Lea Seydoux has been signed for Gentle Monster, the upcoming drama by filmmaker Marie Kreutzer. Besides Seydoux, the film also features Jella Haase, Laurence Rupp and yesteryear screen legend Catherine Deneuve in the lead cast.
Seydoux will reportedly be seen in the role of an acclaimed pianist who unravels something life-altering after moving to the countrywide, something that compels her to challenge her notions about relationships and loyalty. The film marks maiden collaboration between Kreutzer and Seydoux. Gentle Monster also marks Kreutzer’s return to direction after nearly 3 years. Her last project was Corsage, the 2022 historical drama which featured Vicky Krieps in the lead.
The film was one of final 10 projects that were chosen at this year’s Cannes Film Market, for the Investors Circle, and ended up winning the ArteKino International Prize at the festival. An international co-production, Gentle Monster is being produced by Alexander Gehr and Johanna Scherz at AG, in association with Komplizen Film (Germany) and France‘s Kazak Production (France). Gerh and Scherz had also produced Corsage, as well as her 2019 film The Ground Beneath My Feet.
Seydoux, most notable for her work in films like Blue Is The Warmest Colour, No Time To Die, Crimes of The Future and Dune: Part Two among others, was last seen in Silent Friend, which had its premiere recently at the Venice International Film Festival. Her upcoming films include Alpha Gang, which stars many prominent actors like Cate Blanchett, David Bautista, Steven Yeun, Zoe Kravitz, Riley Keough and Channing Tatum.
