Apple TV+ has announced a new limited series titled The Off Weeks, which is all set to be headlined by Ben Stiller and Jessica Chastain. Both actors are currently collaborating with the streaming platform on various projects.
While Ben Stiller is the director and executive producer of Severance, Jessica Chastain headlines The Savant, an upcoming Apple TV+ drama. The two seasoned actors will also serve as executive producers apart from starring in lead roles.
Stiller will star as Gus Adler, a recently divorced professor who struggles to manage during "on weeks" when he has the custody of his kids, in The Off Weeks. But when he is off duty, he is busy falling in love with Chastain's Stella West, a mysterious woman who puts his responsibilities and ambitions "on a fatal collision course," according to the show's description.
The showrunner of the series will be Made for Love fame Alissa Nutting, along with the director of the show, Michael Showalter, who developed the project under his Semi-Formal Productions banner. The producers are Apple Studios and Wiip.
The documentary Stiller and Meara: Nothing is Lost, which revolves around Stiller's parents and comedy duo Jerry Stiller and Anne Meara, is also being helmed by him apart from Severance. While The Savant is set to premiere on September 26, Chastain also has Apple TV+'s The Dealer, co-starring Adam Driver in the art-world drama.
The Off Weeks will be executive produced by a star-studded team, including creators Alissa Nutting and Michael Showalter, along with Ben Stiller and John Lesher of Red Hour, Jessica Chastain and Kelly Carmichael of Freckle Films, Jordana Mollick of Semi-Formal Productions, Paul Lee and Gabriel Fisher of Wiip, Peter Principato, Allen Fischer, and Brian Steinberg of Artists First, and Dean Bakopoulos.
