At the 77th Emmy Awards, which took place on Sunday, Hannah Einbinder bagged her first Emmy for her performance in Hacks, taking home the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series award. While it is a milestone, no doubt, her censored political speech created more buzz than her award.

With no hint of a political statement, Einbinder started speaking comically, recalling her past Emmy losses. She said, "I was just really committed to the personal narrative that I had that it was actually cooler to continue to lose. But this is cool too! This is also punk rock."

Further, she went on to express her gratitude to the creators. "Thank you, Jen Statsky, Paul W Downs and Lucia Aniello, for changing my life in every conceivable way, but not just by giving me a great gig, but by being my friends and being my family." Praising her co-star Jean Smart, she said, “I just get to stand in her warmth,” comparing her to the sun.

Then, as she gave a shout-out to the NFL team, the Philadelphia Eagles, she also made a bold political statement, which was censored out of the live telecast. “Go Birds, f--- ICE, and free Palestine,” Einbinder said. She was one among the celebrities showing support for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza by wearing a red Artists4Ceasefire pin.

Speaking about Hacks, she confirmed that the series will end with season 5. She told E!, "It will feel different. We’re going to start [filming] next week, and knowing it’s the last season is really bittersweet. But I think it’s right, you know? It’s nice to do something as many times as it should be done. Not overstay your welcome. Rip it and do it and laugh and cry.”
